High Highs

I'm going to Sydney next week for work, and then a weekend of play. One of the things we're doing is heading to the bi-annual Finders Keepers Market which is on Friday May 15th and Saturday May 16th at the Carriage Works. Playing on Saturday at around 6pm is a duo called High Highs. I've fallen for the gentle, otherworldly acoustic folk/pop tunes on their myspace page. They even try their hand at a cover of Dan Auerbach's "Trouble Weighs a Ton". There's no official release or label or any more details but the full list of artists appearing at the markets is here.

The Woods Themselves

Sydney-siders The Woods Themselves have a new album brewing which you can hear on their myspace or download samples from at their official site. Their self titled debut from 2004 was amazing but I can't seem to find anymore details about the new record. I'll keep my ears pealed. In the meantime here's a new video from them:

Pivot

Sydney group PIVOT are in London this week to play some shows supporting their upcoming Warp Records single and new album. They're the first antipodeans that I know to hook up with the esteemed UK electronic label, but their signing will come as no surprise to anyone who heard their mesmerising '05 release Make Me Love You. Drowned in Sound say they are "reminiscent of Battles in their combination of electronic and organic elements to create an outstanding groove." So, believe it.

Pivot play tomorrow (April 24th) at On The Up , Bar Academy and then on Friday at Bardens Bourdoir and then kick around the UK and Europe until the end of May. Their latest single 'In The Blood' is up on their myspace and their official site has tour dates and a free MP3 too.

Who The Bloody Hell also have info on their forthcoming release.
